This is a second go for Alexa Ponciano via TPFG, as last year she wrote a beautiful and honest depiction of her life with her dual diagnosis of a brain tumor and Celiac disease at the early age of 8 years old. And how her survival of both (and currently living with Celiac) has changed the course of her life creating a newfound respect and appreciation for each and every day she has on this earth. Alexa is all about living life to the fullest, having fun, and staying positive. Β  And it is this light within Alexa that immediately drew me to her. She was willing to try anything. She was brave and vocal about her interests and her passions, making sure opportunities and experiences never past her by without a try. We talk to Alexa about her latest venture, WearsAlexa, a blog celebrating her love of fashion and her interest in showing girls ways to strut their personal style. And hey, its oh-so fun to be your own boss and create your own business!

When I met Alexa Ponciano on the set of one of my kids’ fashion editorials Social Bunnies, I was immediately struck by her positivity, light and zest for life. She had the energy and enthusiasm to match any model I had worked with in the past, and I could tell from the moment she spoke her heart was made of gold. Little did I know that at such a young age, she had already lived a lifetime of hardships suffering from a brain tumor and Celiac disease.

When I spoke to Alexa about coming on board to tell her story, the main reason she wanted to do it was to help any girl (or boy) out there suffering from the same challenges and hurdles. She wanted to be an inspiration and a ray of hope, she certainly is. Today, she tells her story and how her biggest obstacles gave her some of life’s most fortuitous gifts.
